If the Rangers were to trade for Dubois, it’s unofficially closing door on Zibanejad long term based on numbers that have been rumored. So ask yourself, of all the potential options, do you want PLD to be the one that replaces Zibanejad? Because PLD is at $5M now.
The math is tough. And the team has a lot of work to do at center in general, independent of whether or not Zibanejad is here after current contract.

So there's a lot of things going on simultaneously which make it difficult. Selling high on TDA, Strome could have made things a little easier.
