Republicans are using government communications (constituent mail, email, social media) to spread the lie that we had a peaceful transfer of power.

They tell this lie so that you forget about January 6th.

Because if you forget, you won't remember to hold them accountable.

There's lots of talk about Sec.3 of the 14th Amendment which states "no person shall be" in elected office if they supported an insurrection against the United States.

This is why the Senators + Representatives who voted to overturn the election results must be expelled.

But we also need to pay attention to Section 4 of the 14th Amendment which states that the United States shall not "assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States."

And that's because taxpayers should not have to pay for uprisings against their own government.

It's for that reason that we need to not only expel the insurrectionists, but as taxpayers we must demand reimbursement.

We need reimbursement for taxpayer-funded tools, facilities, travel, security, + communications that the insurrectionists used to attempt to overturn our elections and restitution for the damage that they have caused.

We should not subsidize sedition.

But we did--when we paid their salary, when we paid for mass communication, when we paid for their travel to go spread lies, when we paid for resources related to Trump's rally, when we paid for them to file an illegitimate amicus brief.

And we continue to subsidize that sedition. Whether it's paying the salaries of radical QAnon Congressmen who maintain the election was stolen or paying for the staff who make social media posts--still unable to affirm that the election was fair.

Failure to hold those who participated in the seditious conspiracy against our government accountable will haunt us.

Their voice is amplified because of their public office. And when their voice shares false information, their public stature legitimizes the lies.

The Fourteenth Amendment provides us with the tools necessary to rid the United States government of those who would seek to undermine our democratic republic.

We are compelled to use them.
