A first AD in Korea is an apprentice - he worked as one while writing scripts for pay for other directors which he didn’t put his heart into
Through the apprenticeship he developed relationships with the production companies who wanted to know what he was writing that he would want to direct. He says his first script was very strange and the producer was perplexed but got financed because it was low budget
