My favorite Babbers moment. Also it makes me think of Mr Thornton in North and South when Margaret rejects him and he declares he does not want to possess her he wants to marry her

These next moments that flip back and forth from the fire to the ball going on at the same time remind me of the Titanic when things are going south and yet the music is still playing ... so eerie and surreal.

His reckless approach - like he’s going to run her over. This whole scene as heartbreaking as it is is CRITICAL because the Babbers wedding scene was so icy. We finally see the depth of his inner turmoil
