Today was a ride. If you'll indulge me for a quick thread... First, @TheDemocrats success - past, present, and future - is entirely because of our team. I'm proud of them, and they teach me something new each and every day. They are tireless, thoughtful, & so smart. 1/
I am thrilled that @harrisonjaime is the new Chair of the DNC. Chairman Harrison is as sharp as he is humble; as kind as he is tough; and having run a state party and a huge campaign, he knows why state parties, the grassroots, & the nuts and bolts of campaigns matter. 2/
Almost exactly four years ago, Jaime was running a strong campaign to be the next DNC Chair. When he realized he would come up short, he backed @tomperez, and spent the next four years working like hell to rebuild the party at our side. How poetic that he now takes the mantle. 3/
Every now and again, you meet someone in life who changes its very trajectory. @tomperez is one of those people in my own life. As a young, punk, 20-something speechwriter, he took a chance on me and made me part of his leadership team. It changed my life. 4/
I've never seen someone throw more of themselves into the pursuit of justice, equality, and causes that are righteous than Tom. There were times our team, and his family, worried he was doing too much. But one foot in front of the other, he. just. kept. pushing. 5/
And it's hard to argue with the results. A rebuilt party infrastructure. Historic fundraising. 4/4 in Novembers. Flipped the House, the Senate, 8 Governorships, and now, the Presidency. You will never meet someone who works harder, cares more, or builds greater than Tom Perez. 6/
More than wins, metrics, or overall success, however, the thing that makes me most proud about the run of the last four years is something I see in both Jaime and Tom. It comes back to our team: a commitment not just to the cause but to the community that success demands. 7/
They invest in their people, and build diverse, thoughtful, and innovative teams - and then empower them to do what they do best. That is what I'm most excited for: the team we've built, the team we're building, and the work that team will do to #BuildBackBetter. 8/
I've had some incredible bosses in my career, but I am especially proud to have worked for badass women who taught and continue to teach me so much. To @JessOConnell, @SeemaNanda, & the twitterless but indomitable Mary Beth Cahill: thank you. Thank you. 9/
And to the Biden team that welcomed ours with open arms and have now entrusted their long term success, @ least in part, in us - @jomalleydillon, @RonaldKlain, Anita Dunn, @CedricRichmond, @emmyruiz, Steve Riccheti & many more - thank you. This team can do hard things, & we will.
