With the lockdown I've spent a lot of time with my sons (high school & college) since their schools shutdown and sports have been limited. The cell phone attachment is something I started contemplating .....
Life before this lockdown was very busy like most families. School and multiple sports, which usually gets us home everyday after 7:00 pm. That's been our life for 15 years.
Now with school and sports on lockdown we actually have time to relax & enjoy dinner. I notice that within 10 minutes they start to lose focus and want to check their phone. My son was home from college and I took him on
a hike out in the woods, he constantly was looking at his phone and didn't care to look at any of the beauty surrounding him. It saddened me .
I started thinking of my childhood growing up in the 70'-80's. I am so grateful for that time in my life. In those days you went out to play, came home for dinner. I now grasp how important that freedom was. There was excitement in learning, discovering and making small
decisions on my own. The neighborhood kids I grew up w/ and myself, were learning (not knowing) about conflict, forgiveness, competition, & sharing. Being free was so fun I didn't ever want the sun to go down and hear my name called for dinner.
Running around barefoot, riding bikes, big wheels, climbing trees, fishing etc etc... BTW this picture of the book cracked me up because thats how we covered our school books ! and I remember everyone having the horrible carpeted covers on toilets😅
So if you grew up in the 70's and 80's I hope you get a kick out of these pictures and you remember some good memories of that time period in your life. Things are so strange now. I feel like we are living in a fake scripted world.
Cell phones, and tech has been important
for us in many ways but has caused much harm as well. I think it's vey important to be free when your young , free in the mind...free to have nothing in the mind until you come upon the experience. The phones keep your mind distracted, it takes "your energy" into itself.
It distracts you from experiencing life. The earth, the animals and God are the opposite...they are constantly "giving their energy" unto us. That is so beautiful and amazing.
I hope the future generations will stop the introduction of tech to children at birth, and start the introduction of nature. Learning, discovering and being free .
