Thankfully, my parents in Jerusalem have been vaccinated. But my friend's parents, who have lived most of their lives under Israeli rule in the West Bank, and who have a huge water pipe under their garden going to the nearby settlement, have not - and there is no plan for them.
To tell me that speaking for my friend's parents - speaking for equality - is akin to the blood libel, is frankly disgusting.
To say that equality means Antisemitism is so disconnected from historical Jewish experience of prejudice and persecution. It is so disconnected from how racism is widely understood by other groups. It doesn't make sense.
You may insist reading the whole thing as coded metaphors, as if the place doesn't exist. But I'm speaking of real people. My friend's parents. They're not young. They are at risk. They've been living under Israeli occupation since 67. They have a right to be vaccinated.
