I'm noticing a somewhat unsettling trend in readings with my clients recently, and I think this is indicative of the Conspirituality stuff going around. (Thread) (1/?)
I've had several clients in the last few months say that they've been watching video readings and all these readings they're seeing on Instagram or YouTube are saying that they will get a large amount of money or big windfall.

When they get a reading w me, they're upset ... 2/
... when I don't tell them that they will be getting thousands of dollars showing up in their bank account. I give *practical* advice about next steps, how to work on abundance, even and including advice based on the cards of where to look for work.

It's not what they want. 3/
I've been reading professionally for years and I haven't seen this ratio of clients who have been preyed upon before. Which makes me think that it's something about this particular moment we're living in.

And people have specifically said "But YouTube Readers said..." 4/
In my last interview on the Heathen's Journey Podcast, Marcus McCoy and I briefly touched on shady metaphysical business practices. He said that he wouldn't be surprised if anti-witchcraft and anti-psychic laws were brought back and fortified. This is why. 5/
As a tarot community we need to be talking about how to do readings for large audiences ethically. On my instagram, I will never say something like "expect a large sum of cash this week." I might say "Look out for new opportunities," but I *never* get that specific. 6/
I just did a reading for a woman who is planning on moving across a country without a job because multiple YouTube readers said that "now is the time to manifest your dreams" and "you will get an inheritance of thousands." 7/
She was so disappointed when the 10 of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles said "get to work and look for opportunities."

Those are GOOD financial cards! But the cards didn't tell her that she wouldn't have to work for it - which is what she is used to hearing. 8/
So I guess this is my question: Who are these YouTube Readers? Is this a new phenomena - or is it a phenomena that I have been lucky enough not to see in my own clients yet?

And how do we interrupt this?
Also: WHO TF ARE THESE CON ARTISTS?

I want to do violence upon these predators
ALSO this is obviously not new - BUT I will say that it seems much more prevalent now than when I started in this business five years ago.

ALSO: No, the TikTok algorithm did NOT choose you to get that special reading from that reader.
ALSO: Tarot certification is not the answer. I've also seen scam tarot certification courses
