Why Denji is arguably the best New gen MC : A thread
Now I don’t know how many Times I’ve pointed out on my TL that Denji is easily one of the most unique and non-generic MC’s of this generation but I’ll say it again: He’s one of a kind-
A common misconception with denji’s character is that he’s supposedly a “simp”(which I partially agree with to some degree) but it’s not actually a flaw as some people make it out to be. It’s actually one of the things that make his character so well and fujimoto intentionally-
Wrote him like that. Denji didn’t grow up under normal circumstances like an average person would. He lacked education and proper parental guidance since his father was said to be abusive and he was treated as property to Mafia he worked for. Makima took advantage of this and-
And Gave denji the feeling of whit feels like to have a normal life and be a normal person. Although yes Denji was also sexually attracted to Makima Fujimoto also confirms that he sees her as a Maternal figure for him as well which makes sense under the circumstances he was given
Some people see denji as selfish for his actions in ch.81 for wanting to become Makima’s dogs but it actually tells the readers and goes back to where denji even questions his humanity due to the fact of him not feeling any sadness for his comrades deaths and him wanting to be a-
Dog for Makima gives him the advantage of not making his own decisions and excuses his lack of sympathy. He lacked sympathetic emotion in those moments due to the way he was raised without knowing what if feels like to lose someone u cared about deeply and that’s what’s beautiful
About denji’s journey as a character. He learns about different emotions and ways to see the world around him from point 0 unlike other Shounen MC’s that already have their Morals and ideals set for them(Asta, Deku, etc.) and Us as readers can kinda relate to his decisions
Anyway In case this gets some attention Make sure to read Chainsaw man 👍🏾
