Hells Paradise: Jigokuraku is a story of love and acceptance. Yes, this bloody, gory, sex filled, supernatural Edo time piece thats opening lines focuses on the importance in ability of an executioner.... is just a 100+ chapter love ballad
Hells paradise' story begins with our protagonist Gabimaru "the Hollow", a shinobi on death row who after multiple exectution attemps, cannot seem to die to his dismay.
Coming to terms with his unconscious desire to live for the one he loves, he decides to take up our deuteragonist Sagiri Asaemons offer to find the elixer of life for the shogun, in exchange for a full pardon on his crimes.
From here we meet more of our main cast in the first act, Aza Chobe, Yuzuhira, and Tamaiya, other convicts similar goals, finding the elixir for a pardon.
However, with the plot moving, through twist and turn, unforeseen deaths, and brutal onslaught after onslaught, the main theme of this story never changes and becomes stronger as the plot progresses

Its just shown in different ways.
Tao is a power system built on centrism, being in touch with your masculine and feminine side, comfortability, calmness, and overwhelming passion, its charged with comfort, embracing others, sex, all love languages.
Each character in the story to understand Tao must first come to understand or better yet accept themselves, from Sagiri all the way down to Toma, the more you are able to accept the love you harbor the better your Tao, and this plays right into the recent climax of the series…
While the series has its narrative problems, its heavy indulgence in the themes of the story keeps the read always feeling fresh and interesting (confusing) but always in a way that makes you want to try to understand it better!!
Sagiris inabilty to use Tao and Gabimarus inabilty to understand directly coincided with there inabilties to understand there feelings and worth and as they understand themselves the more the Tao works in there favor regardless of circumstance, this isnt a linear narrative,…
…plot convenience be damned what matters most in the story Yuji Kaku wrote is that its the theme is beaten into your head by the end of it. It is focused on more then any other thing in the story, the theme matters more here then the plot itself
Reminiscent of how mawaru penguindrum used hyper symbolism this story pulls every corner of religious imagery & horror you can imagine just to blind you from the in your face subtext especially going on with feminity, or how these flowers damned men with dated mindsets, or…
…how the flower petals grew from tosens breats representing motherhood multiple times in the series, hinting at the fact "Tosen" has a loved one

Most of the characters have amazing depictions, and personalities, there full of traits that make them feel real.
Stress on most because there are some characters in the second half of the series I do have problems with *cough* Shugen and majority of his entourage *cough* BUT the characters I love, I love with all my heart....and thats what matters most, not every character needs to be…
…compelling, or likable anyway. Like c'mon how can you hate Shion, plus Chobe is just everything, best brother in fiction, and Mei thats my daughter forreal

Sidenote: The way the series handles send offs is easily one of its best positives aswell.
Its ability to make you care so much for a character so quickly(Tenza) is really indicative of how well written it is also.

A series unafraid to kill chatracters on first glance because the characters are secondary to the theme of the story is such an interesting writting style
Love in itself is a very powerful theme and in this story its taken to the full extent of use, making its way in every corner of the story down to the bones of the plot, but what is the meaning behind this work truly?
That my friends is for you yourself to try to understand, thanks for reading
