We have been involved since February in securing bulk #PPE for medical groups, community groups and municipalities.
I am going to share some lessons we have learned and some of the obstacles the Nation is currently facing with regard to this. 1. >

Original pre-covid supply chains are back in action, but really only servicing largest of their client base. Smaller medical/dental groups are still facing severe difficulties and or price gouging in obtaining certified PPE.
Nursing homes and rural hospitals especially so. 2.>

US government insistence on N95 masks only being sold to medical community has in fact both exacerbated hoarding + put citizens at risk/makes medical first responders jobs much harder.
This needs to be flipped immediately. Use DPA to send 4-5 N95 or FFP2 to every household. 3. >

In September of 2020, FEMA cut most #PPE payments to States, Cities, Localities, as well as many colleges/schools. This needs to be flipped immediately, the cost of paying for PPE should not be shifted to already financially strained States, Cities, etc. FEMA can do better. 4.>
My company created a unique supply chain of certified PPE vendors both here in USA and abroad. There are many companies here in the USA who need guidance/funding on how to convert existing manufacturing capabilities into making masks or nitrile gloves. This builds jobs. 5.>
Testing, testing, testing. If we can mobilize @NationalGuard in all 50 States to issue BOTH vaccines, serve as a free way for everyone to be tested as often as necessary until the scientists and doctors can get control of the medical side of this virus. This would be huge. 6.>
PPE needs to be democratized. A private plastic surgery co should not be able to more easily, more cheaply get same PPE needed by nursing homes, tribal organizations and community groups. There needs to be grants + bonds issued to groups to be used for PPE in mass amounts. 7.>
States + Cities, Counties and Localities have all assumed a massive cost burden due to the previous administration attempting to shift costs and responsibility. This alone could cause huge number of bankruptcies in rural hospitals, city hospitals and even some municipalities. 8.>
#USG needs to create, in partnership with financial players, a new kind of peace bond: one from that the proceeds can be used to support these hospitals, States and Cities for these huge costs from last year, and to prevent a wave of bankruptcies. Use blockchain to issue. 9.>
Finally. There is tremendous need to improve public private partnerships to fight covid. Companies like mine are already doing it, every day.
There needs to be special covid federal contracting authority aimed at small businesses leading charge, with a level field. Thank you.
