I came across a tweet from two medical personnel who were clueless about the usage of pronouns such as "She/her/hers" for instance.

This thread is to enlighten them and others on this sensitive topic and to understand the #LGBTQ+ community.
My ethos: Have taken classes that focus on sexual orientation, sexual identity, and the moral ethics/consequences of it in medicine. Moreover, I have volunteered in college clubs to bring awareness about #LGBTQ community.
I was surprised when I read that doctors weren't sure of why the pronouns are used or rather seemed confused about the concept of gender fluidity.

It's okay. We all learn and unlearn.

The thread begins.
Firstly, what are gender-binary pronouns?
He/him/his = if identified as men.
She/her/hers = if identified as women.
They/them/theirs = gender-expansive pronouns if one doesn't identify as male or female.
For them, "Mr." or "Ms." may change to "Mx" (mix).
Biological sex: Refers to a person's anatomy, related to external sex organs and sex chromosomes.

Gender-identity: How a person feels regarding one's biological sex. Remember it's NOT the same as biological sex ALWAYS.
Why does the usage of appropriate pronouns matter?
- To show respect. Using the wrong pronoun or being arrogant about not understanding the concept can be hurtful or make the group feel unwelcome and ignored.
Is everyone required to use the pronouns?
- No. But if one is unsure about what pronoun to use for others, it's better to stick to a gender-neutral pronoun.
- #LGBTQ community deserves to have its self-ascribed pronouns and identity.
Note: This thread is to not mock the doctors mentioned in this thread. It was been written in a positive light. Their comments were taken as an inspiration to spread awareness for those who aren't aware of gender fluidity and the usage of pronouns.
