Juniper. I love juniper because it grows abundantly in my area and is wonderful for protection. It is also said to guard against theft. It can also be used in a working to break curses and hexes. It’s also worth looking into the medicinal properties of juniper berries!
Thistle. I love using spiky plants for protection. A plant’s physical properties can also indicate its protective properties. A thorny plant like thistle is a great example of this. Thistle can also be used in workings for breaking hexes.
Garlic. While we’ve all heard of guarding against vampires (vampires are hot though, why would you guard against vampires?) Garlic also has extensive historical use for protection. In some folk magick traditions, garlic is hung above the door to protect the home.
Eucalyptus is wonderful for protections as well as healing. I find that dressing a protection candle with eucalyptus oil (or a blend containing it) gives my spell a nice boost.
Oak. I could make an entire thread about all the properties and historical usage of oak, but let’s focus on its protective properties. Oak wood and acorns are both very protective and can be used as charms, or added into other kinds of protective workings.
Holly. Holly is a WONDERFUL protective plant. It can be planted around the home or hung in the home for protection. It is said to protect against malevolent spirits.
Lastly, we have rosemary. I know it’s a lot of people’s go-to protection herb, but I thought I’d add it anyway. It can be burned as an incense, planted around the home, hung in the home, added to workings, made into tea, added into food, the possibilities really are endless.
