/ UNITY THREAD

Unity doesn't mean agreeing on everything. It doesn't mean giving away the store to Republicans. It means trying to find common ground and being united by trying to do what is best for the country. I *think* that's what Biden means.
/For example, my family and I have unity around the idea that we love each other, we are committed to each other, and we matter to each other. But we disagree on all sorts of things. Our disagreements don't mean we don't have unity.
/I think the problem with using the word unity is that it's too open to interpretation. I wouldn't use it right now. There is nothing wrong with division when you are divided over important issues. But that's my best interpretation of what Biden is saying.
/Unity obviously implies two parties. So the fact that the reaction by so many conservatives is to say "give me what I want or there is no unity" makes the idea basically DOA.
