We have written @POTUS a letter expressing our dismay at the potential selection of Renata Hesse as AAG of the antitrust division at DOJ:
https://techinquiry.org/RenataHesseConcerns.pdf

tldr: Her work defending Google from an antitrust suit should be an immediate dealbreaker.
That Hesse's history with Google wasn't immediately considered a dealbreaker concerns us. The head of the antitrust division should be committed to antitrust. @revolvingdoorDC reports Hesse avoids mentioning tech in her speeches.

Does Hesse think tech doesn't need antitrust?
As tech workers, we see up close how the Big Tech companies use their power to strangle competition. Their monopolistic behavior has far-reaching consequences.

Perhaps with more competition we'd see alternative ways to address misinformation, harassment, radicalization, etc.
Big Tech already has too much power. @POTUS shouldn't extend it even further by placing their allies in key roles at the DOJ.

Instead, he should appoint those who'll work on behalf of the American people to regulate Big Tech and create a more democratic tech industry.
A more democratic tech industry will help us bring about a more democratic society - and that, we hope, is a goal we can all rally around.
