Lmao at anyone in replies/QRTs pretending this is REALLY about appreciating an artist’s work...no I’m sorry, they (the artist) just want to provide artificial scarcity of their work instead of being a normal fucking person and doing something like, I don’t know, making prints! https://twitter.com/bran_dj/status/1352098859875524608
Like I follow a photographer that sells their work on one of the crypto sites, and while I love their work (and don’t doubt they’re not entirely aware of all this), it just feels like...dude, what am I supposed to do with a string of letters and numbers??
It makes it a little obvious that you only want the elite few who can afford it (at least in some cases) to ever “own” any part of work...fuck poorsies, they’re not my image!
Plus why do you NEED to be a multi-millionaire as an artist???? Even if we ignore everything else about all this, why does one person need to make THAT much money on...digital editions of their work that’s JUST A STRING OF RANDOM CHARACTERS?
Anyway TL;DR is A.) They have to know just a TAD how bad crypto shit is for the environment (figures have been out for a while) and B.) stop building this whole hype or w/e culture around art.
Hype culture as in like...”here’s this super ultra rare edition of my art that literally most of my fan base can’t afford”.
Good thread, me not always great with words. https://twitter.com/everestpipkin/status/1352254619129409537
