Hey, Oregon 1A workers. Here's the previously unpublished number to call to get a vaccine! 503-494-5455. TELL EVERYONE. While you do that, here's the backstory.
In Oregon, rollout is run by @KateBrownForOR and @OHAOregon. For reasons literally no one can explain, neither of them had any plan we can discern for a vaccine rollout. OHA had a committee, they didn't meet until 2 weeks ago. That's a month after the rollout started.
Vaccines went to various health organizations: OHSU, Providence, Kaiser, Salem Health. The majority went to OHSU and Kaiser. No one told them how to distribute them. There were federal guidelines on who makes up 1A. Frontline workers. Its pretty specific.
None of those organizations had registration systems, so they each built them, a tremendous waste of time and money and resources for orgs already strapped for resources in a pandemic.
But then, @OHSUNews and @ProvHealthClt did a bad and unethical thing. Instead of just vaxxing their own 1A workers (which is all they did, they never opened it to anyone outside their system) they also started vaccinating their employees. All of em. Like, work from home admins.
Accountants and administrators and assistants, all of whom have been working from home for months. OHSU was worse: the sent an email to ALL their students. Young, healthy folx who largely hadn't been on campus either. They all got vaccinated.
And largely perpetuated the notion (a lie) that they just didn't want vaccines to go to waste, in a state full of people desperate to get it. There is literally no where on any state website to find out WHERE to get the vaccine. 6 weeks in, it hasn't changed.
