I am a fan of IC’s work, but this is a WILD statement to make given how many ppl in the last 3 years saw a few prominent men face consequences for sexual assault/harassment and five minutes later clutched their pearls over #MeToo “going too far”
@ejeancarroll wrote and spoke about her experiences in many mainstream outlets, sometimes more than once. But the story quickly shifted from what happened to her to how Trump *reacted* to it
And obviously this was not a phenomenon limited to accusations against Trump: So much of the "mainstream" #MeToo coverage was, from the start, about erasing and discounting those who spoke out in favor of focusing on how accusations would impact the perpetrators
Gonna pop in here to amplify Chotiner's response. The original tweet surprised me because that he's done such smart writing and interviewing on this general subject!
