I feel very bad for people who were preyed upon by private lenders to significantly lower their monthly payment (and ultimately add years to the loan) by refinancing. I know some who were desperate, did this, and continue to pay monthly for that piece of paper. https://twitter.com/Phil_Lewis_/status/1352018082974355457
If you grew up a little bit poor, you remember sitting in your high school guidance counselor's office and hearing them tell you that you HAD to go to college and filling out a FAFSA was the only way to do it.
They told you not to worry because with a degree you would make enough to pay it back. And don't even think about community college. Sure it's cheap, but college's don't want a community transfer, and no prospective future employer takes community college seriously.
So you took out insane loans, and your mom co-signed in a lot of cases because let's face it, a lot of our parents didn't go to college and just thought they were doing what was right, which was listen to the guidance counselor.
Good luck out here, anyone who refinanced and/or is STILL paying for college.
This concludes my rant. At least you know I care about something besides Football :)

OK FINE one more thing:
Stop forcing useless electives on highschool kids. Most of us would have done much better if we took a financial literacy class rather than learning how to cook an english muffin pizza.
