I'm actually not thrilled about Buttigieg as Sec. of Transportation. It's an infrastructure job, which makes sense given that Pete made much of his infrastructure legacy in South Bend.

The problem is: it's not a great legacy.
He tore down homes disproportionately belonging to Black and brown residents, and ratcheted up code enforcement, which resulted in fines which, again, disproportionately impacted Black and brown residents. His approach culminated in displacement of Black and brown residents.
White people tend to think of government infrastructure projects as neutral or even a net social good, and good infrastructure IS vitally necessary.

But in the US, infrastructure improvements have often been used as a means to dispossess and displace "undesirable" residents.
I hope that Buttigieg has learned from the criticism he's received over the years, but I'm...not optimistic.
