19 security officers at @UCL like Amjad have contracted Covid since December. Frontline workers across London’s universities are falling ill.
Far too many workers are being forced to come into work, risking their health on crowded public transport. Jenny from London Southbank spoke to ITV yesterday about this issue: https://twitter.com/IWGBunion/status/1351868990964985857?s=20
@IWGBUoL wrote to University management teams since December to demand measures are taken to reduce these risks. Now at UCL we know the worst is happening: 19 lives have been put at avoidable risk.
Universities are disregarding workers' health with impunity. This must change.

In spite of the worsening pandemic, government advice to stay home, and @SadiqKhan declaring a “major incident” in London, university managers, most of whom are working from home, are still asking workers to come in to work to maintain inessential buildings.
A transparent, responsible plan which centers workers’ health and wellbeing must be put in place immediately. We urge them to protect the lives of workers, protect the public and protect the NHS from collapse. Close the universities! #Fight4OurFrontline
