NEWS: In response to our story on Rick Snyder's role in #FlintWaterCrisis cover-up, House Oversight Cmt says:

“We are closely monitoring the criminal investigation regarding former Gov. Snyder, and we will consider additional steps based on the outcome of the court proceedings.”

When I responded noting there is nothing precluding the Dem-controlled House Oversight Committee from doing further investigation federally--including bringing Snyder back before the committee—while state proceedings go on, the committee staffer wouldn't respond on the record

For reference, federal investigations go on all the time while state investigations/criminal proceedings occur simultaneously. Example-Robert Mueller investigating Trump/Russia federally while the New York Southern District investigated Trump & his business in NY

1) Snyder, his chief of staff, health director were involved in an AVALANCHE of calls in Oct 2014 at same time the deadly Flint Legionella outbreak was raising alarm bells in his environmental & health department

2) In Oct 2014, the state environmental dpt's drinking water office noted "Governor's Briefings" that mentioned the Legionella outbreak in Flint twice (Snyder testified to Congress he didn't know about Legionella until January 2016)

3) Snyder's environmental director had a meeting with Snyder-appointed Flint emergency manager in October 2014 in which the Legionella outbreak was discussed. At the meeting, an environmental official the issue "may blow" into PR nightmare

4) Original Flint water investigation concluded there was evidence to charge Snyder w/ misconduct office, neglect of duty, and at time AG Dana Nessel fired them, they were building case for involuntary manslaughter.
