Has anyone done a study on the negative impact on the economy due to job seekers spending so much time applying for jobs that could have otherwise been used more productively?

Even just think of that time going to waste that could have been used towards creative ends: poetry, music, theater, film...but no, we all have to use that time instead expending our creative energy on our CVs and cover letters

We've probably lost countless works of brilliance (or even time spent enjoying those works of brilliance) because of having to properly format something to "put our best foot forward" or having to massage or finesse a cover letter that will just merely be glanced at
