I was talking about this with paige yesterday -- it is very odd to me that I can pretty confidently say if I were a man, I would be working in the STEM field
but i never considered it, so when I realized I was interested in science and math, my brain went "oh okay, teach it! that's what girls do!"
and when I showed interest in STEM before I decided I wanted to teach, adults were either actively discouraging of my interest, or simply did not encourage it or build upon it
all this to say: i have no regrets. teaching has taught me so much about myself and about autonomy and respect. but it is likely that I will go back to school in my 30s -- I'm not yet sure what for, but i know this is something i will want to give to myself.
the opportunity to learn again, this time knowing full well what I am capable of
