Blasters started in the same formation that gets the best out of them as a team 4-2-2-2. With Rahul coming in at right for the injured Facundo. Sahal and Murray as usual started their thing by pressing the hell out of the BFC defense. Sahal was really impressive in his pressing
Rahul had lot of spaces in the right hand side. And at times he created chances. And some other it was the same issue as Sahal. Composure at the final 3rd. To play that final ball or finish of those chances. Was making it complicated in first half. 2/12
Sandeep was playing RB, Jeakson CB, Jaunde DM. What a performance from Sandeep. He preformed like a seasoned RB. For the last goal it sandeep who wins the header and sprint the whole ground to be level with Rahul. That's passion for the club. It shows in his reaction to the goal
Vicente playing as a CM was progressing the ball well. Juande helped him also. I still think Juande is getting his match fitness. Remember in my previous threads told the same about Vicente. Set piece defending is always an issue for us. And BFC scored from the same. 4/12
Cleiton should have been picked up by either sandeep or rahul. Leaving him unmarked is awful. Our pressing game didn't work well bcoz Facundo was not playing. Both rahul and Hooper are not on the same wavelength as our Pressing trio. 5/12
Costa positioning absolutely pathetic in certain phases. However he is still one of the better CBs in our squad. And it shows in the amount of goal we have conceded. The best CB at the club might be the one that played the position for first time yesterday. 6/12
Murray going off at HT led to Putiea coming in and playing as RW. Rahul shifting to an SS position and Hooper as ST. Rahul as SS is a good move but he has to occupy the right side more. Initially it was too much left side stuffs from him as Hooper shifted to right. 7/12
Kudos to Ref for not whistling for our first goal. You play to the whistle. Basic stuff. But felt that Juanan one was a red. Studs up in follow through. You have to praise the mentality of the team to keep fighting until the end. Again the intensity and work rate was there. 8/12
For the rahul goal. You have to praise Kibu for allowing Rahul to stay up the field. 1-1 94th min BFC Set piece throw. I wouldn't be surprised if most coach's went 11 man in box defense. But kibu gambled and left rahul up the field. 9/12
That goal wouldn't have happened if rahul was inside our box. And it was also good that he was not inside our box after last match. Play to your players strength. Rahul had a similar chance from left side. He couldn't finish bcoz he took that with his weak foot. 10/12
This time around it was the right side and correct foot. Also brilliant low finish. It is extremely hard for tall GK to save low shots. Unless they are good with feet. KP used the dummy run of Sandeep and used leon also to finish that. 11/12
I can see the progress in this team. The improvement from young Indian players. I can list lot of young Indian players who has improved under Kibu. We just need to continue on this. Remember the performance matters. Ignore all the noise of playoff and all. One game at a time.
