Yesterday was a different day than I imagined.

I wanted to feel elated, but I didn't. I likened it to having been dangled over a dangerous precipice and then put back on solid ground.

I felt relief. Exhaustion. Gratitude. Not elation.
But I'll confess that seeing this tweet late last night finally made me feel elated.

For the last few years I've fought tooth and nail against the relentless misconstrual and erasure of the immigrant narrative.

What a joy to see it openly celebrated: https://twitter.com/ossoff/status/1352093159300366339
And because someone's bound to ask, no, the name wasn't "changed at Ellis Island." I covered that a couple weeks ago. 😉 https://twitter.com/CleverTitleTK/status/1347233755866529793
I don't believe we wake up today in a perfect or "fixed" America, by a long shot.

But I welcome the changes this administration will bring, both big and small. The subtle shifts in perspective like this as well as the sea changes.

After what we've been through, it's all good.
It's worth noting, btw, that @ossoff's tweet came just a day -- A DAY -- after another great-grandson of immigrants tweeted this.
And another great-grandson of humble Eastern European immigrants is drinking the "preserve our heritage" Kool Aid too: https://twitter.com/jdawsey1/status/1351736003074154501
Here's Stephen Miller real heritage, btw. https://twitter.com/CleverTitleTK/status/1351900566390243330
