a kind of contempt/snobbery about sport (the 'sports ball' stuff), unseriousness about specifically women's sport, a powerful (though incoherent) lobby, and just lazy thinking. The results will not be 'catastrophic' or lead to 'domination' of women's sport... 2/
but there will be thousands of micro stories, of women and girls, deprived of opportunities and competitions, of despair and frustration, of micro-injustices, and there will be a general downgrading of women's sport, as unserious, as a 'performance' or 'narrative'...3/
rather than as a serious, intrinsically valuable, physical contest in which women and girls do difficult things skillfully, in a fair competition against other women and girls.
