The guy of Asian appearance behind Joe Biden is Special Agent David Cho of the US Secret Service. He's not a "Chinese handler" or a "double agent".

Nor am I giving up some sort of state secret. The Secret Service isn't that Secret. Mr. Cho, whose paths crossed with mine back when I worked in the USSS, is head of the detail. The head of the detail have always been named.

Nor is there anything weird or odd about his lapel pin. If you've not noticed that the US Secret Service uses a bewildering and changing array of lapel pins at events, you simply have not been keeping up.

Nor is Mr Cho new to the USSS. I came across him in training in 2002 when I was a new employee. He's been spotted latterly with the Trump detail.

And, no, Mr. Cho is not Chinese. But so what if he were an American of Chinese descent? There's an awful lot of you out there making frankly racist comments and assumptions.

And, yes, I know what I am talking about. I worked in the White House Military Office from 1996 to 2002 and for the US Secret Service from 2002 to 2008.
