A thread on Takaya Imamura / 今村孝矢.
Imamura joined Nintendo in 1989 when development of F-Zero had just begun. He worked on the final version of the sprites of the vehicles (which originally had wheels) then made various illustrations towards the end of the development.
Captain Falcon was originally thought to be the mascot of the Super NES (hence the use of 3 of the 4 button colors of the controller) before joining F-Zero. Takaya Imamura also designed the other characters.

Takaya Imamura drew a draft of the short comic featured in the manual of F-Zero (left pic). Valiant Comics created the final version of the comics as well as the cover art of the Japanese version.
