To my Christian friends who believed that God was going to intervene to give Trump a second term, I’m sure you feel let down. It can be disheartening when God doesn’t show up like we think God should.

Perhaps I might offer a helpful perspective. 1/3

Perhaps the problem isn’t that God didn’t come through, but that you mistook your political desires for God’s will. Perhaps you made an idol out of a person. We are all guilty of creating God in our own image. Perhaps this is a chance to do some soul searching. 2/3

Christianity is rooted in confession, repentance, and forgiveness. Perhaps this is a time to confess and repent of political idolatry. If we confess our sins, God is faithful just to forgive us.
