1/ By some measures, disaffiliated ("lapsed") #Catholics comprise the largest religious denomination in the US.

Listen to one of them--" #Catholicism made me a humanist before I knew the word....I believed in the basic church teachings because I thought they were correct....
2/ "In my mind, in the way I interpret them, I still live by them today."

That's Roger Ebert. Here's another.

"I came to ruefully and bemusedly understand that once you're a #Catholic, you're always a Catholic. So I stopped kidding myself....
3/ "I don't often participate in my religion but I know somewhere...deep inside...I'm still on the team."

That's Springsteen.

How many people in your life do Ebert and Springsteen speak for? If you're even reading this, I'll bet it's a lot.
4/ I am watching this #Biden moment with #Catholicism and #decency out front. And I'm thinking, what an opportunity for the #CatholicChurch. How many more like this will come?

This is a time to embrace @JoeBiden & reach out to 'lapsed' #Catholics.
5/ This is NOT a time for @USCCB statements about the pre-eminence of abortion that subtly undermine the #Catholicism of one of the most publicly decent men ever to be @POTUS.

When will we ever learn? #CatholicTwitter
PS/ The situation all #Catholics need to face is that the church is where the institutional church is not.

This is both a problem and an opportunity.
