1. Mental Health Tip #18

Everyone knows the reasons to be physically activity, like reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes just to name a few, but did you know exercise also can improve your brain function? 🧠
2.Aerobic exercise (exercises with oxygen so running, walking, skipping etc) has been shown to increase the size of the Hippocampus - the verbal memory and learning part of the brain.🧠
3. Dr. John J. Ratey found that exercise improves learning by: optimises your mind-set to improve alertness, attention, and motivation;
encourages nerve cells to bind to one another, (retaining new information);
starts the development of new nerve cells in the Hippocampus. 👌
Basically, not only does exercise get the brain ready for learning, but is also makes retaining information easier.
Exercise can improve mood and reduce stress and anxiety, it can also improve sleep which can all frequently cause/ contribute to cognitive impairment.
