4 years ago . I was in ISI torture cell on this day. It was my 🎂 Birthday. There was rough estimate of days and dates as we were kept in solitary with no windows or source of natural light. On 21 (it was just an estimate) , it was just another day and same torture routine.
Same “interrogation”. I could not sleep. I was thinking of my 3 years old son, wife and parents. Tortures does something with your mind. I was unable to recall face of my son or family members. There were just names . Which was quite painful.
Here I am after 4 years. I survived and I will fight till last breathe to ensure that this impunity ends. The violators of constitution and perpetrators of crimes against humanity will be put on trial. That may not happen tomorrow but that day is not too far.
Let me put it on record once again.
I was abducted by Pakistan Army. I was kept in a torture cell maintained by Military Intelligence in Lahore. I was kept in Islamabad in a torture cell maintained by ISI counter terrorism.
My crime was writing and making fun of the power Army and its allies. That did not stop. Rather, that movement got a face. It was an anonymous blog and we actively maintained zero digital foot print. Now it is all open.
I believe it has made me more determined and powerful.
I don’t have to hide anymore. I don’t have to conceal my identity.
Happy Birthday to me and all those victims of Pakistan Army who spent and still spending their Birthdays in torture cells of Pakistan Army.
