I'm just going to expand a little further: If the point is that we can celebrate minorities in power while criticising their killing of innocents, then we're completely erasing how minorities in leadership actually legitimise violent structures of white supremacy/1 https://twitter.com/Tarek_Younis_/status/1352166408587792386
Within a globalised neoliberal order, the military-industrial complex is all for having "model" minorities taking leadership roles, necessary to maintain the liberal veneer that race is no longer a key factor in how innocents are unashamedly killed across the Global South/2
The point is that minorities in leadership very well legitimise structures of white supremacy, which so many have argued. This is especially relevant in Mehdi’s point, whereby the lives of those killed by drones were deemed less ‘worthy’—Obama maintained this practice/3
To reiterate, I don’t care about anyone celebrating Kamala, but you can’t simply celebrate a minority in a position of power, thinking this threatens white supremacy, while they kill other minorities and brush away the dissonance/end
