Fact of the matter as plainly as it can be stated is this. India’s opposition is using disinformation to put the govt on a backfoot and this government has spent 6 years trying to avoid public communication let alone developing an expertise in it.
The public does have an unprecendented trust in the Prime Minister but that trust does not extend to his govt, his cabinet or his spokespersons. Some leaders have developed their own public personas because of their own groundwork but none have a pan-India appeal.
This problem is not just a national one either, its international too. The government’s well-wishers have no idea of the rationale, philosophy or the nuances of the govt’s policies. No publicly accessible documentation exists.
This govt has neglected developing its intelligentsia and its now paying the price for it. Whatever efforts one sees in this domain are purely individual efforts. A lot more could have been done. This has obviously been said many times by many people, but needed to be said again.
One would have thought that given the media hate Modi ji has received in his entire career, he would be even more invested in solving this problem but it seems his strategy was to avoid the problem which obviously never works.
Its also not the lack of talent or willingness of people to help out. Its the absence of focus from the higher ups and obviously the full scale occupation of yes-men at mid-level that block any and all individual efforts coming from the ground.
This rant inspired by the about-turn on Farm Laws, and many other such policy issues, is issued in the public interest. Thank you very much.
