WHAT IS A LIFE FILE?

It is a file that contains all your important and updated information and documentation that might be needed in the event of your death, an accident, or emergency.
CONTENTS:

1.Personal documents
ID copy, marriage certificate, CV

2. Emergency contacts
Executor, Financial advisor/planner, lawyer, accountant, work/HR

3. Last Will & Testament
Your will, power of attorney of you have any

4. List of Assets
Tittle deeds, car ownership docs,
Municipal bills etc

5. Insurance policy schedules
Life, funeral, risk insurance policy documents (car, household etc)

6. Investments & savings
Investments docs, investor/policy/account numbers, schedules, initiation docs

7. Pension
Pension & retirement schedules
8. Equity holdings/companies
CIPC docs, share register, share certificates, shareholders agreements, directors & shareholders details

9. Bank accounts
Name of banks, account numbers, banker

10. Debts
Bonds, credit cards, clothing accounts etc. Indicate if they are insure
11. Employment
Contract, payslip

14. Medical
Medical aid, gap cover, insurance etc

15. Passwords
Social media, emails, safe

16. Other
NB: Your life file will be guided by what you have
E.g.
1. accounts to be closed
2. Accounts/investments you have for others (your kids)
You can also create a cover page with important information, for example:
Depending on your preferences, this can be one or multiple files.

I personally have 2 files.

File1 with personal information: matric newspaper, certificates, qualifications, cvs, letters of appointments, employment contracts etc. I started keeping this file from Matric
File 2: Policy schedules: it contains all policy docs, investments, insurance schedules,
Parents: also start keeping files for your kids. Information of bank accounts you've opened for them, investments etc.
All important information. Birth certificates, cards etc.
