Cancel Culture cancelers have neither the emotional maturity nor the intellectual capacity to respectfully engage with those with whom they disagree, so they throw temper tantrums that seek to ruin their opponents' lives while assuring everyone (& themselves) it's out of love.

They prefer the term "holding people accountable" to "cancel culture" because it feeds into the superiority complex from which they suffer. With malice, bitterness, and anger, they promise to be canceling in the name of empathy and inclusivity.
