Today after a few hours of walking I was wrapping up to go home. I was cold so thought I would stop at a 7/11 for a coffee. That was when I met him. This will be a thread.
A man was standing there to the side and he was moving kind of back and forth in an oddly animated fashion. I asked if he was okay. He said "No, I am not okay. I am soaked and cold and hungry.".
I asked again what exactly is wrong and he told me he got kicked out of where he was at and slept in a sleeping bag last night. It was not waterproofed and he woke soaked and miserable.
I knew he was the one. He was the person I was meant to meet. I gave him a survival kit and asked him to put a mask on. Then took him and his possessions to the Grand traverse motel. Great rates and I got him a room for a week.
The maid agreed to do his laundry for 20.00 and then I bought him dinner. I left him with two gift cards and will check on him again tomorrow. The big part of this though is this...
I don't care if he was black or white. Or by what name he calls his God. He is an American. We are Americans. And today thankfully, with your help, we allowed this American to sleep in a warm bed on inauguration day. Today was the day I needed. ♥️
