Well that all just really worked.
Today was powerful, in part, because the organizers designed #InaugurationDay around the current and very specific NEED of the country in THIS moment.
There was a discernible throughline (a call for unity WITH justice). They weren’t afraid of “cheesy” and so were able to help us look at the familiar again and remember that it’s actually sacred ( @JLo singing THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND).
They used very real constraints (Covid-19 and no Inauguration balls) to create something new and innovative such as the circle of three former Presidents sending @JoeBiden a message of support and modeling multiple peaceful transfers of power.
Even @TheAmandaGorman, who totally stole the show, delivered a poem/prayer that she wrote as a RESPONSE to the events of January 6th and by penning a poem for THIS MOMENT both took our breath away and filled us with life. ✨
