I hope this is my last political post for a very long time. I didn’t want Obama as president and was angry when he won, not because I hated “liberals” it’s because I wanted John McCain as our leader.
Many times while campaigning he stopped his constituents, defaming Obama, assuring them that Obama loved the country as much as he did they just disagreed on how to run it. Time and time again he stood up for what he felt was right even if it went against party lines.
Tonight, I showed my oldest son McCain’s concession speech where again he chose the right way, unity over division. I preach to my boys that the right way is hardly the easy way, your reward is a legacy revered. To be able to show that example was a big because it hit the mark.
I tried to never disparage, belittle or be condescending toward any friend or neighbor because we disagreed about Trump, it’s their right to like him and I respect that. Any disagreement I tried to resolve through conversation rather than casting stones.
I truly hope the country we love will heal, chose unity over division and IMO remember the words of the last great Republican the late John McCain.
