Some KXL anti-spin. KXL is not in operation, therefore cancelling it is not turning the taps off on some takeaway pipeline capacity that the AB "economy" currently enjoys. Jason Kenney et al are trying to spin this as a "hit" on the AB economy. /2 #cdnpoli #abpoli
2/ It might be argued that it's a "hit" on the future AB economy, but that doesn't even fly. The main market for AB's heavy oil is the Gulf refineries. That oil is getting to those refineries right now without KXL's help. /3
3/ The future may include TMX, which would allow western oil to reach Burnaby, thus to be transported elsewhere via tanker. If Irving can accept western oil via tanker from Burnaby, the Gulf refineries certainly can.
4/ So, it's all a spin-fest to cover Jason Kenney's investing of our money in a risky venture long (years) dogged by American opposition, also to divert attention from the Liberal government's improving the odds of AB oil getting to "tidewater".
