no one is gonna see this but here’s my take on biden and harris and the next 4 years. i’ve seen a lot of people saying “we have nothing to celebrate, these people are still awful”. to that, i half agree, half disagree. yes, biden and harris are INCREDIBLY problematic, BUT...
i think that any step in the right direction, no matter how small, is still worth celebrating. the fact that trump wasn’t re-elected for 4 more years is worth celebrating in my opinion. we also have to realize that biden and harris are just as human as anyone else, and are just
as liable to fuck up. both of them have fucked up majorly in the past. acknowledging that, i also think that they can still do good. they realize how divided this country is and i believe they genuinely want to help fix it.
they are clearly not my first choice. i hate having senior citizens in the white house, but change doesn’t happen all at once. i know that kamala harris was once (basically) a cop, and is responsible for many wrongdoings within the prison system. joe biden is arguably more
problematic. the fact that we have a 79 year old white guy as president is problematic. in conclusion, i think we need to be open minded about this administration, and focus on the positive change that comes from it while also acknowledging that these people suck.
also i think people need to stop invalidating others for saying ACAB while also celebrating kamala harris’s victory. it’s not as much about her as it is the fact that we have a Black, Indian woman as VP. that’s pretty fucking cool. it’s not contradictory to say/celebrate those 2
things together. harris is a symbolic figure for girls everywhere and provides the motivation some people need to reach higher goals. she proves that it’s possible for POC women to reach these positions of power.
and ACAB (from my knowledge) refers to the police system rather than individuals. harris was a product of that system. while she is definitely to blame for some decisions she made, the position she had probably corrupted her to some extent.
