Luke Shaw vs Fulham, a thread on how he contributed to the team. Took me some work haha rt if you enjoyed cheers :) Informational thread, hope you guys enjoy :)
As you can see, early on, Luke Shaw is getting out wide and making himself an option up the pitch with United looking to play a higher line looking to attack more effectively. Both fullbacks are up the pitch with their backs to the sideline.
This goal that Fulham scored was not Shaw's fault. Imo, Bailly, Pogba, and maybe a little bit of Wan Bissaka were at fault. Pogba believed that Bailly would pick up his man but didnt and Wan Bissaka played Lookman off. If you say the goal is Shaw's fault, think again.
As the early stages progress, Luke Shaw is always an option out wide never sitting back and always having his body in an open position to approach the game. In this instance, he is able to play a ball through the lines.
Fred getting into this situation came from a Shaw run and intricate box to box midfield play from Fred, who had a really solid game. Penalty or no penatly? Doesn't matter now :)
Shaw recieves the ball and quickly plays a one touch back to open up the play and proceeds to make a darting run up the pitch, forcing anguissa to cover both areas.
Shaw is able to pick up the ball in a narrow area and puts a cross into the box. Fairly decent cross and its deflected and falls to another United player. Point is whenever United are attacking, Shaw is as well.
Shaw starts the attack in the buildup to our goal by darting across using his pace to get by a defender and the ball he puts in falls to Bruno. Bruno hits the post and puts in a cross that falls to Cavani from a gk mistake. Point is, attack started from Shaw. More than just g/a.
Brilliant corner into the box by none other than Luke Shaw and Maguire puts it wide by miles. Put in consistent crosses the entire game as well and there's a reason why Shaw is starting to take corners over Bruno.
Shaw is able to put in another cross in the box with Cavani in prime position. Unfortunately, not much comes from the chance but again its adventurous by Luke Shaw
Shaw here has gotten up from a cross from Wan Bissaka and gets an opportunity to volley the ball but it is blocked. Another example of him debunking the myth that he doesn't get up.
Luke Shaw yet again is always there for support, and this is just another example. Some link up play occurs and Shaw gets a chance to dart at Fulham without the ball causing commotion.
Luke shaw making another positive run in a great spell for United attackingly. He's always up the pitch in attack and back to help defend.
Shaw sprints into the Fulham box and is able to put in another cross. More attacking and attack minded play from him.
Here Shaw tracks a run and sprints back like mad to track this run properly. He watches the run, and in the end is able to save Man United by making a magnificent slide tackle. His awareness of where the ball and the player here was phenomenal.
Near the end of the game, Shaw gets himself in prime positions to be able to watch incoming runs into the box and not be caught out. Especially near the end of the game, his positioning was brilliant and this is an example.
For the last time, Luke Shaw is more than stats. Using some reasoning, I analyzed one game and showed what Luke Shaw brings to this side. Not his best performance at all haha but yh hope you enjoyed. Also if you did, bunch more stuff on my youtube :). Link in bio ofc or
