If you are in the decision making position of trading off accessibility in favour of security, be sure that the trade off A. accurate B. clearly communicated C. rooted in ethics + doesn't devalue people. There needs to be a fairness in the system + a recognition of individuality.
A tool might not suffice for the job, because we interact with it differently, need different things from it, have confidence or experiences. Accommodation processes are often not about what works best to meet needs but what someone else determined would suffice to do the job.
Reflect on the power dynamics of the situation. You will may be deciding how much extra work someone has to put in, increase levels of stress + anxiety, or impeding their ability to do the work at all. Approach with good intent, consider the impact + their ability to thrive.
