A thread on 'Unity'.
I lived in Jerusalem for a few years and worked for the pro-peace movement.
I consistently heard the line, “We can’t make peace with those who hate us”.
Errr. If they didn’t hate you, if they weren't enemies, you wouldn’t need to make peace with them

You don't make peace with your friends. You make peace with your enemies. Peace is a process... a destination. There are a whole series of components and stages that require healing, compromise, willingness... it's work.
Unity is no different.
Unity is no different.
We don't lose our distrust, ignore injustice, forget history on our way to unity. We don't silence dissent. We work towards finding intersection, we practice communication and find the willingness to engage when we don't necessarily feel like it.
Unity is a goal. Not mandate.
