I’ve spent more than 10 years trying to prevent the construction of the Givat Hamatos settlement, w/ its devastating impact on the future of Israelis & Palestinians. With friends and colleagues, in Israel, Palestine and the int’l community, we succeeded.

Until today

Today it was decided pretty conclusively that Givat Hamatos will be built. Netanyahu decided that the national interest of Israel would be best advanced by giving the finger to Pres. Biden by approving the tenders to build, 5 hours before the inauguration.

So this was a really, really shitty day. Israelis and Palestinians will long live with the consequences of this day.

But - Trump is gone. Pres. Biden and VP Harris have been installed, and the long slog to rebuilding can now begin.

Not so shitty a day after all.
