I am opposed to abortion whole-heartedly. It is one of the most dark & revolting consequences of the Fall.

And yet, the way this issue has been collapsed & defined narrowly as “murder,” not only to create single-issue voting but single-issue Christianity, is not biblical.
Reading Jesus and John Wayne was a powerful reminder that evangelicals used to discuss abortion with nuance. At present, neither Republicans nor Democrats are genuinely attempting to do so.
As long as these polarized, dishonest narratives about abortion persist, and are absolutized as “single issue” anything, then our nation’s worldly divisions will run straight through the church.
