My comments today on the inauguration for Malta TV with Lea Hogg:

threat to the political order they’ve become accustomed to. How he plans to unify the voters and the political parties will depend on the first 100 days of his tenure in implementing economic recovery efforts, climate change policies, pandemic strategy and racial division.
Lockdowns have become politically problematic as they want to balance health concerns with economic recovery and reopening.

Biden is sure to implement at least a dozen Executive orders today reversing Trump era policies which should appease the Democratic voters but likely will
only further isolate the 75 million Trump voters. These are not solutions but more about lip service to the base. Solutions will need to be found with bipartisan support which could be problematic since the Democratic majorities in both chambers are historically slim.
There will not only the Republicans to appease, but Democrats in Red states that are looking to 2022 elections and will need to tread carefully on policies. There is an unlikely chance that Biden will have his policies rubber stamped.
Moving onto Foreign affairs...

the reality is that trade and geopolitical tensions are rising, especially concerning that of the Gulf region, Russia, Turkey and China. The US and EU positions will likely conflict in certain areas such as Turkey’s renewed sense of military adventurism in Africa and the
Eastern Mediterranean, Nordstream 2, China-EU trade deal which will sour relations behind the scenes soon after the honeymoon phase is over. Biden administration will look to Europe as a bigger partner concerning geopolitical issues, which is unclear whether certain EU member
states have the intention of following through with the rhetoric displayed publicly.
Both sides will need to court Chinese marketshare and financial benefits to assist in this pandemic induced economic recession while trying to balance human rights issues and climate change.
