i really need people to trouble their understanding of “joy.” like no one is telling you to not laugh. but celebrating war criminals should not be a source of joy for you. at that point, what even is the utility of “joy”? it, too, will kill you.

being a “killjoy” or “always mad” is not killing us any faster than finding joy in celebrating the people who want us both dead. in the end, we both die. so if you want to find joy in that, so be it, but don’t act like we’re dying any faster deaths than you are.

as for me: if i’m dying any way, i’d much rather be honest about who is holding the gun to my head, who is wielding the power that ends me, who is removing me from safety’s arms, and who it is i’m fighting against. i don’t find joy in my enemy obtaining greater power over me.
