1/6 🧵 #Inauguration2021

President Biden & Vice President Harris have been inaugurated & are headed straight to work. Harris will swear in 3 new Democratic senators & Biden will begin to take action on issues that young people care about.

Here's what's on the Day One agenda —
2/6 Young voters made it clear to Biden that if he wanted our votes, he'd have to go farther on climate action than any nominee before him. He listened & pushed his policies forward.

Today, in the first of many actions to come, Biden will move to rejoin the Paris climate accord.
3/6 More day one climate action includes canceling the Keystone XL pipeline — a fight we've been a part of since NextGen’s founding.

Climate justice & the future of young Americans are inextricably linked. We know that our communities are at risk & climate action is urgent.
4/6 Biden will also extend pauses on student loan debt payments & evictions. These actions are crucial given the hardships young people are facing during the #COVID19 pandemic, but we'll be calling on Biden to go farther — to cancel student debt in his first 100 days.
5/6 Biden listened to young people when we said that we need a leader who prioritizes diversity & racial justice. Biden's administration is historically diverse & today he will reverse Trump's racist travel bans, affirming the values that young people overwhelmingly hold.
6/6 All of these critical, day one victories have been made possible by young voters, who turned out in record numbers and sent Biden and Harris to the White House.

It’s our time to make lasting change, and we are just getting started.
